‘KEEPER AND SLEEPER’
Halls Gap Zoo and the Grampians Pioneer Cottages have teamed up to provide the ultimate Keeper & Sleeper package.
“Keeper for a day – Pioneer for the night”.
The zoo and accommodation package encompasses the keeper for a day or half day programs and 2 nights’ accommodation at the Grampians Pioneer Cottages.
This exclusive experience will have a keeper come to collect you from our shared gate between the two properties to start your keeper experience.
The cost will depend on the experience you choose and the number of people staying in the cottages.

Keeper for the Morning
In this experience you have the opportunity to assist a keeper for the morning. Tasks include helping with the daily exhibit maintenance, preparing animal diets or enrichments. This experience is only available for ages 13 years* and over and is for a maximum of one person per keeper. Participants must be physically fit. Starting time is 8:30am and duration is 4 hours.
*Participants under 16 years of age must have their guardian either on site or immediately accessible for the duration of the stay. Staying in the cottages will be acceptable.
Price: Starting from $594 includes 2 nights’ accommodation for 2 people, zoo keeper experience $200 (1 person) and personal pick up by the zoo keeper for your ‘Keeper for a morning’ experience.
Keeper for a Day
Spend the whole day discovering what a Zoo keeper does. Assist in daily exhibit maintenance, preparing animal diets or enrichments and feeding the animals. This experience is only available for ages 13 years* and over and is for a maximum of one person per keeper. Participants must be physically fit. Starting time is 8:30am and duration is 8 hours.
*Participants under 16 years of age must have their guardian either on site or immediately accessible for the duration of the stay. Staying in the cottages will be acceptable.
Price: Starting from $594 includes 2 nights’ accommodation for 2 people, zoo keeper experience $300 (1 person) and personal pick up by the zoo keeper for your ‘Keeper for a day’ experience.
Zoo Experiences
If you are looking for a zoo encounter experience you will have to deal directly with the zoo, due to the varying times during the day for encounters it’s not possible for a keeper to pick up from our shared gate. We are happy for you to stay with us but you will have to book directly with the zoo at www.hallsgapzoo.com.au/shop.
